Rafale Deal: The nuisance around

2018 and 19 are the years that would have much of the election hustle. After all, its PM Modi's exam and he needs the Exam Warriors

The blame game has already begun between the incumbent and the opposition. Are you still thinking, Who was responsible for the PNB scam, BJP or Congress? Seriously, it doesn't matter at all. It's time for the BJP to effectively handle the situation and emerge as a great leader.

Another nuisance that BJP has to handle is the allegations on the Rafale deal

What was the deal? Was it corrupt? Is Congress the right or is it just a vote Weapon?
Let us patiently look at the details and find out.

In 2015, the PM decided to buy 36 'off the shelf' or 'ready to fly' fighter jets from French fighter jet builder Dassault. Rafale was already chosen in a 2012 bid during UPA rule. Deal during UPA - 18 ready to fly jets, 108 to be assembled in India, Price 54000 crores
Current Deal - 36 ready to fly jets, Price 58000 crores.

This time, I am with BJP!.

Well, I usually don't support the current govt, but the current allegations, in my opinion, are false and misleading to get a vote bank for Congress.

The 54000 crore value was of a contract set up in 2011, which only included 18 ready aircrafts and parts to combine the remaining 108 in India. The deal did not convert till 2016 and inflation thus has its role to play. Besides Inflation, the deal in 2011 did not include any weapons and maintaince cost.
Assembling it at HAL, Bangaluru would also mean incurring additional costs.

54000/126 = 429 crore per plane
58000/36 = 1611 crore per plane
1182 crore spent more per plane basis.

Approx 600 crore per plane according to inflated value. But remember, this is India's calculator and not France.
Ignoring the France part, it comes somewhat around a 1000 crores extra per plane.

The price that the NDA government negotiated is far more comprehensive: it includes 36 fully-assembled Rafale aircraft, as well as personal training, munitions, India-specific subsystems, supporting infrastructure, and a five-year service agreement. So it appears more expensive on a “per plane” basis. (source : newslaundry.com)

The above perks were certainly not there in the UPA deal. And 429 crore per plane was not a final amount, it could be much larger accounting for different costs.

But we need to be cautious of this large difference in this amount and at the same time understand that releasing details on these kinds of subjects are neither in the benefit of manufacturing firms nor the country's security. National security comes first before any issue, so it's recommendable that the Congress stop creating mess around the issue and divert the govt's attention to issues like unemployment and banks regulation.
